Do you want to play an impactful role in the development and execution of financial  strategy programmes within the Non-Life business unit of Nationale Nederlanden? We are looking for a Financially oriented Strategic Programme Manager who is able to set up and drive financial transformation by shaping and managing strategic financial transformation programmes.

What you are going to do

Non-life’s strategy is accelerating digitalisation to drive cost efficiency and enable growth, thereby unlocking sustainable customer value. The role of the Strategic Transformation Expertise & Portfolio management (STEP) Team is to create value by helping Non-life develop and safeguard its strategy and identifying opportunities to increase operational efficiency, improve the customer experience, and drive sustainable growth. As a team we help drive topics that overarch individual Non-life business lines or involve multiple teams/departments across Non-life.

Market consolidation, internationalisation, accelerating digitalisation, and technological advancements have changed the nature of competition and the expectations of clients fundamentally. Increased focus on pricing, costs, growth, and digitalisation opportunities call for professionals who have experience in analysing financial figures, can conceptually draft strategic options, and can create traction to enable transformations.

As a Financially oriented Strategic Programme Manager, you will be responsible for monitoring industry trends on pricing, costs, internationalisation and consolidation, conceptualising domain transformations (with AI), developing structured financial transformation programmes, and guiding the organisation to become more cost efficient, improve customer journeys, and thereby increase stakeholder value. The role requires balancing high-level vision with practical delivery to drive financial transformation and achieve specific business outcomes.

We expect you to be able to successfully overcome challenging issues in a complex environment by overseeing the entire field of internal and external stakeholders and setting the right priorities. We are looking for a resourceful person, who always finds a way to help stakeholders align, is great at identifying new opportunities, and mindful of possible threats. In addition, you should be able to translate complex issues into actionable plans and communicate in a clear yet inspiring manner.

As a Financially oriented Strategic Programme Manager you will be responsible for identifying financial and/or pricing challenges, developing and implementing pricing and financial strategies, balancing profitability and competitiveness by analysing costs, market trends, and competitor pricing, using advanced predictive models, and transforming the organisation through financial programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analysing financial domains in terms of process, pricing, cost, and growth

  • Conceptualizing and developing financial transformation strategies

  • Executing complex transformation programmes across the organisation

  • Balancing the needs of senior stakeholders as well as multi-disciplinary teams

  • Communicating and reporting on progress in an inspiring way

What we offer you
NN invests in an inclusive, inspiring work environment and in skills and competences for the future. We match this with employee benefits that are in line with what is needed today and in the future. This way, we offer our employees the opportunity to get the best out of themselves. We offer you:

  • Salary between €6,406 and €9,151, with a possible progression to €10,907, based on a 40 hour workweek, depending on your knowledge and experience

  • 13th month and holiday allowance (paid in monthly terms)

  • 27 vacation days for a 5-day working week and 3 Diversity Days

  • A modern pension administered by BeFrank

  • Plenty of training and learning opportunities

  • NS Business Card 2nd class, which gives you unlimited travel, also privately. Do you prefer to travel with your own transport? Then you can declare the kilometres travelled

  • Allowances for setting up your home office and for internet use

Who you are

We are looking for someone with a conceptual and analytic mindset, a structured way of working, and the ability to ignite organisational transformation. Someone who is able to oversee, abstract, and combine relevant information to devise financial strategies and drive programmes in an efficient manner.

You need to be able to work autonomously, yet collaborate with people from various disciplines and hierarchical levels. You have strong communication skills and know how to engage your stakeholders in the right way. You aim to learn every day and want to help Nationale Nederlanden realise its ambition to be an industry leader.

Requirements:

  • Education: A Master's degree in Business Economics, Business Administration, or a related field

  • Experience: At least 3 years of demonstrable experience in developing and leading financial transformation programmes

  • Analytical Skills: Aptitude for qualitative and quantitative analyses, conceptual thinking, and reporting

  • Financial knowledge: Understanding of the insurance market, ability to analyse (insurers’) annual accounts, understanding of (dynamic) pricing, pricing policies, and pricing models, experience in developing (international) growth and cost cutting strategies

  • Communication skills: Strong communication skills with fluency in both English as well as Dutch to deliver concise, effective messages in an appealing manner

  • Soft skills: Excellent leadership-, stakeholder management-, and time management skills, along with a proactive, continuous transformational improvement mindset

Who you will work with

As a Financially oriented Strategic Programme Manager you will become a part of the Financial Cluster within the Strategic Transformation Expertise & Portfolio management (STEP) team, which is positioned within the Strategy, Data, IT & Pricing (SDIP) department of the Non-life business unit. Within the STEP team you will be working with the Cluster lead Financial who has extensive experience in resolving financial and/or pricing challenges, is able to coach cluster members in terms of knowledge and skills, and helps set the strategic direction for the Financial domain together with the manager STEP.

You will be working alongside other members of the Financial cluster and with other STEP colleagues who work within the Digital Cluster or a field of Expertise like Sustainability, FEC, CX, or UX. Although our colleagues work autonomously on their individual topics, we value and stimulate collaboration by sharing insights and learnings among the team. Aside from the STEP colleagues, you will work closely with other (senior) stakeholders and business teams within Non-life.
