Helping your fellow engineers work as efficiently as possible, that’s what you make happen. How? By providing them with a developer platform based on standard tools, complemented by custom-built solutions. You’ll do this from our office in Arnhem or from home. This is a role where you can apply your vision on technical architecture, Developer Experience, and CI/CD, while being continuously challenged technically.


What you are going to do

You play an important role in the development of the applications we use to serve our customers. You won’t develop these applications yourself, but instead create a reliable environment and standardized solutions for our developers. This enables them to build innovative applications smoothly and deploy them automatically via CI/CD. Thanks to you, solutions are not only technically sound, but also consistent.

You will achieve this by:

  • Building and maintaining our CI/CD pipelines
  • Developing supporting applications (Java for backend and JavaScript/TypeScript for frontend)
  • Automating tasks and actively contributing to the development or improvement of tooling (for example, shaping how we can leverage AI)
  • Maintaining and standardizing our platform (Java, Jakarta EE, JavaScript, TypeScript, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Maven, Liberty, Quarkus, NPM, AWS services, and a developer toolset for local environments)
  • Implementing a secure infrastructure and supporting scrum teams with security and performance testing
  • Collaborating with colleagues responsible for infrastructure
  • Advising developers on how to use the Retail platform
  • Regularly engaging with developers about their experiences and needs

Who you are

You understand the importance of uniformity, standardization, and automation. With your analytical mindset, you can easily identify opportunities for improvement within the software domain. You communicate effectively with fellow IT professionals in our OTAP environment and take initiative, while remaining critical and thoughtful in your approach.

You also:

  • Have an HBO or WO level degree, preferably in IT
  • Have solid experience as a developer
  • Bring experience with Java, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Maven, Liberty, Quarkus, automated testing, and building/maintaining CI/CD pipelines (we’re happy to help you learn what you don’t yet know)
  • Possess strong conceptual knowledge of infrastructure

Who you will work with

You will be part of the Retail Service Team: a group of 7 enthusiastic IT professionals responsible for developing and maintaining the Retail platform. Part of the team focuses on AWS infrastructure and operations. As a Developer Platform Engineer, your focus will be on Developer Experience and CI/CD. Your colleagues are always looking for ways to improve and are eager to roll up their sleeves, for developers and for each other.
